A Big Problem with Calorie Counting

avocados have a lot of calories

One problem with calorie counting is…

You think that more calories are bad and less calories = good.

It’s not that black and white.

If you’re counting calories you’ve probably brainwashed yourself to think that low calorie foods like 100 calorie packs of cookies or cheesecake yogurt (regardless of how processed they are) are amazing and “high” calorie foods like avocado are bad.

Let’s take one minute and think about that. You’re telling me avocado is bad and your protein chips with 15 ingredients on the label are good?

More calories doesn’t mean bad and less calories doesn’t mean good.

Yes calories matter. But you know what matters even more? The quality of the food you’re eating.

If your diet consists of primarily ultra processed “diet” food, your body will be starved for nutrients and unable to naturally regulate its hunger cues.

Whole foods, think single ingredient foods that you cook yourself, like meat, poultry, seafood, tofu, vegetables, fruit, grains and some nuts, seeds and dairy will give your body everything it needs to thrive.

What if you focused on eating whole foods instead of protein chips and keto ice cream?

Your body doesn’t know what to do with chemicals- but it will find balance with real food.
